Tano D'Amico

Tano D’Amico has been one of the leading street photographers of Italy since the 1970s, when his work for the radical newspaper Lotta Continua established his reputation for a keen eye and unique perspective on the inner life of social movements in the years leading up to the Movimento del ’77.   D'Amico's photos capture the unsettled, unscripted humanity of encounters among protesters and between protesters and authorities in a way that opens up possibilities for alternative outcomes often occluded in simple narratives of social conflict and violencee.
